I don’t think the local pizza hut keeps that much on its salad bar. I wouldn’t know…The last time I tried eating there, we sat at the (unbussed) table the manager nonchalantly waved us toward for 10 minutes without so much as being acknowledged by our server. Needless to say, we loudly voiced our discontent and left.

It seems that the letter of the law was followed, albeit not the spirit. Plus, if one was to be kicked out for such a stunt, it would stand to reason that payment would not be required, and the literal food pyramid would have to be thrown out. Advantage: creative customer.

All restaurants I’ve been to with salad bars allowed going back for seconds. I suspect it’s a regional difference.
I use to work at pizza Hut. The one I worked at, the wait staff never changed the salad crocks or the food util it was literally starting to rot.

We had a salad bar at school that was limited to one trip. Being the big eater that I was as a kid I just kept heaping it on letting it spill onto the plastic carry tray
only got away with it for a week though till they made a rule saying all foood had to be on the plate

What’s your point with the photos? Is food that is not wasted at Pizza Hut somehow magically transported to starving people in Africa?
If you want to stop seeing starving people in Africa send them birth control instead of food.
BdgBill- What’s my point? I thought that was obvious. While those of us in the first world consume resources (food, clean water, fossil fuels) like it’s our job and then proudly post pictures showing us wallowing in our gluttony, there are people in third world countries all over the world who lack the basic necessities that we obviously take for granted. These pictures prove to me that we’re not even aware that we have a problem. We’re acting like the billionaire who burns money in his fireplace because he’s bored while a homeless man in a nearby alleyway digs through the trash to find a meal. We’re fat and happy, and we don’t give a damn.
You’re right about one thing: perishables like those shown in the pictures above can’t be magically transported to starving people in Africa. However, perishables can be not-so-magically transported to the homeless shelters of the city in which the pictures were taken. Africa doesn’t have a monopoly on poverty and starvation.
Incidentally, I’ve lived in Africa, and your comment about sending birth control again proves your myopia. If we really wanted to help Africa, we’d jump in our time machines and stop European nations from systematically raping, looting, and pillaging the continent for hundreds of years. But since my Delorian isn’t equipped with a flux capacitor, I guess I’ll have to do the next best thing: stop wasting the resources available to me and start sending them (e.g., non-perishable foods) to those in need.
And this is not political commentary, as this issue transcends politics; this is humanitarian commentary.
