Google Talk preview

Google is about to release its long-awaited instant messaging software anytime from now soon. For those impatient, there is a sneak preview of Google Talk at DownloadSquad.

According to the review, Google Talk comes with basic IM capabilities, high-quality and easy to use VoIP, complete integration with Gmail, and a simple, ads-free interface.

How the hell did they get a copy before all of us? Well, I don’t know. If you can’t wait, here are some alternatives you can download now: Skype, VoipBuster, and God knows what will happen to them in the future.

And if you really can’t wait, use a Jabber-compatible Instant Messaging client (such as Apple’s iChat, or GAIM), and connect to GoogleTalk’s Jabber server with the following setup (as reported here earlier):

Server: talk.google.com
Username: youremail@gmail.com
Password: yourpassword

If you use GAIM, the following is what you need:
Protocol: Jabber
Screen name: (your gmail username, everything except @gmail.com)
Server: gmail.com
Then click on “Show more options”
Check “Use TLS is available”
Port: 5222
Connect server: talk.google.com

Give me a buzz if you can connect! blewtooth#gmail.com
