Yahoo redesign on its way?


Is Yahoo beta testing the new design of its homepage? Some users have reported that they see a completely new homepage that is too MSN.

I can’t seem to be able to view it myself here. Some have suggested to use IE instead of Firefox. No luck for me too, though.

Yahoo Messenger 7.5


Yahoo has recently released Yahoo Messenger 7.5 Beta. This is the first version to incorporate the new inbound and outbound calling features. The outbound feature lets you call directly from the computer to any phone number in the world, while the Phone in feature enables callers to call a number and reach a Yahoo! Messenger user.

Yahoo unveils Yahoo Answers

Got a question? Yahoo now invites you to ask the Internet. Dubbed Yahoo Answers, the company reckons that sometimes it’s hard to find an exact answer by searching it with a search engine. Real people with logical thinking are still better than the search engine with the best algorithm when it comes to answering certain questions.

Unlike Google Answers which depends on a group of selected people to answer your questions, Yahoo Answers is currently open to anyone with a Yahoo account to ask or to answer a question. There is currently no option of setting a price for a question like Google Answers.

It’s interesting to learn that Yahoo has launched a similar service in Taiwan before. Known as Yahoo Kimo Knowledge+, the service is popular and has accumulated a total of 3 million questions.

Online daters sue match.com and Yahoo Personals

Beware for those who depend on online dating websites to find the perfect love. Because you might end up ‘dating’ employee of theirs.
Match.com, a unit of IAC/Interactive Corp., is accused in a federal lawsuit of goading members into renewing their subscriptions through bogus romantic e-mails sent out by company employees. In some instances, the suit contends, people on the Match payroll even went on sham dates with subscribers as a marketing ploy.

Yahoo is also being accused of falsiying the number of potential dating partners to make it look as though many more singles subscribe to the service than actually do.

Both companies choose to have no comment about the lawsuits.

Yahoo today launches Trip Planner as part of Yahoo Travel. In summary, it’s a tool that lets you create your personalized travel guide. You can save hotels, attractions, and useful web sites into the guide, and take it with you when you begin your trip.

You can share the guide with selected friends or the entire Yahoo Travel community.

Yahoo doubling music subscription fee

Yahoo will soon boosting the cost of Yahoo! Music Unlimited which lets you download song without a limit at a fixed monthly cost.

Initially started at $6.99 per month, the service has given rivals such as Napster and Realnetworks which provide similar services at $15 a month. But Yahoo has recently sent an e-mail message to the subscribers late Thursday night that the price will be reviewed to $12 a month as of Nov. 1.

Microsoft, Yahoo to Link IM Networks

According to a Betanews post, the IM giants Microsoft and Yahoo are expected to announce a “blockbuster” interoperability. With such deal, users of each network will be able to connect to the users of the other network for using text and voice chat free of charge.

Yahoo launches blog search


We are not surprised to see the blog search service from Yahoo, it is afterall expected since Google has had its own blog search. However, Yahoo’s version does not come in a way we’d all imagined. There is no dedicated blog search site, not yet.
