Ok, at least the fake Windows XP SP3. According to Microsoft’s plan, we won’t see any service pack for Windows XP anytime soon, or at least not before it launches its Windows Vista.
But someone at thehotfix.net is kind enough to collect 100+ hotfix pack of many of the Windows XP SP3 fixes up for download. This of course is not an official Microsoft release, but it has gained enough popularity to enter download sites like Softpedia and Majorgeek.

According to Microsoft, your upcoming Windows Vista is going to boot up and shut down faster than you coud ever imagine.
Switching it on will be like turning on your television, you get the display within 2 to 3 seconds. It works by processing the login scripts and startup programs and services in the background.
Whoa, that’s impressive, Microsoft. But I don’t get the point. For my Windows XP machine, I get to see the desktop pretty quickly, but the system is almost not usable for another minute or two because it has many things to load in the background.

Microsoft has shown off the new user interface for its upcoming Office suite at the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference 2005. Dubbed “Office 12″, the application suite will see the most dramatic change to the way its applications work since the intruduction of the toolbar back in 1997.
Check out the screenshots at the link below. The new toolbar does look good, but they seem to be wasting space.

Microsoft has just unveiled a product codenamed “Max” that is based on its next-generation WinFX technology that you are supposed to see only in its upcoming Windows Vista. Max enables users to create and manage slideshows, arrange their photos into various layouts and sharing them.
It’s currently available as a free beta download. The installation will attempt to download WinFX Runtime Components 3.0 Beta 2 if your Windows hasn’t been equipped with WinFX. Windows Genuine Advantage validation seems not enforced.

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, is a person who would not hesitate to tell you how he feels (for plenty of examples, check this out). A Microsoft ex-employee recalls Steve’s reaction when he told Steve he was going to leave for Google.
“At that point, Mr. Ballmer picked up a chair and threw it across the room hitting a table in his office,” Lucovosky recounted, adding that Ballmer then launched into a tirade about Google CEO Eric Schmidt. “I’m going to f***ing bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I’m going to f***ing kill Google.” Schmidt previously worked for Sun Microsystems and was the CEO of Novell.

MSN on Thursday took the wraps off a new version of its Start.com customizable portal. The new version includes support to indicate what feeds have been read or unread, automatic updates, as well as capabilities to show more or fewer headlines based on a user’s preference.
It’s a portal similar to customizable Google page. It lets you drag and drop elements, it reads RSS feeds and it lets you change the skin, among other things. It is an incubation project that Microsoft would not hesitate to tell you that it is not an officially supported site and doesn’t represent any particular strategy or policy.
By the way, you are now reading start.com.my. It’s a personal blog, and it’s not affiliated with start.com nor Microsoft in any way. Not another cybersquatting suit, please!
