Got a question? Yahoo now invites you to ask the Internet. Dubbed Yahoo Answers, the company reckons that sometimes it’s hard to find an exact answer by searching it with a search engine. Real people with logical thinking are still better than the search engine with the best algorithm when it comes to answering certain questions.
Unlike Google Answers which depends on a group of selected people to answer your questions, Yahoo Answers is currently open to anyone with a Yahoo account to ask or to answer a question. There is currently no option of setting a price for a question like Google Answers.
It’s interesting to learn that Yahoo has launched a similar service in Taiwan before. Known as Yahoo Kimo Knowledge+, the service is popular and has accumulated a total of 3 million questions.

It probably is never easy to learn how to tie a knot with just pictures and instructions. Sometimes a movie is worth even more words than an illustration.
IWillknot.com is a site about knots. Tutorials in videos are provided. To make it even better, the videos are segmented into sections, so you can watch slowly and follow closely.

Scheduling a meeting can be a daunting task. Especially if you need to get more than 2 people to come to a meeting - because everyone will have their own reasons to be busy at the time you propose.
The next time when you are the unlucky one to propose a time for a meeting, instead of endless loop of emails, try pointment.com.
To schedule a meeting, just key in the e-mail addresses of the attendees, describe the meeting and key in the one or more proposed times. The system will then send e-mails to everyone invited to ask them which time they like best. As the creator of the meeting, you then can handpick the most appropriate time to hold the meeting based on the result of the poll.

Finally there is a web-based client that lets you connect to Google Talk IM network without having to install the client. Sounds silly? Not exactly, just imagine that you could start talking to your friends with any computers without having to waste your time to install the clients.
Okay, back to Gtalkr. The entire site is done in Flash and it’s really nicely done. The interface is clean just like the original Google Talk, which wins some people’s hearts because of its simplistic design. Upon successful login, you will see the list of your Google Talk contacts on the left. In addition, you also see your Gmail contacts. A very powerful feature of its is the API, which lets programmers expand its feature list.

This gigantic toaster is associated with open source software, and no, neither it uses open source software to prepare the toast, nor it runs on open source operating system.
Getting free software isn’t easy as it may sound, especially for those living in Africa where fast broadband access isn’t always an option. The Freedom Toaster is a conveniently located, self-contained ‘Bring ‘n Burn’ facility, where users bring their own blank discs and make copies of the open source software they require.
Some of the software it currently serves: Ubuntu Linux, Mandriva Linux, Fedora Core 3/4 and OpenOffice.org. Want a free software? Just bring along a blank CD.

As you are probably aware, this site runs Chitika’s eMiniMalls ads in addition to Google Adsense. I have been running it for quite some time, and the result has been quite impressive.
However, there is a catch should you want to serve Chitika and Google ads on the same page. Per Google’s TOS, you are not allowed to run another contextual ads alongside Adsense.
Forunately, Chitika has provided an option for you to turn off its contextual feature (what a waste, as they probably have invested their time and money into this, it’s not their time to shake a giant like Google, yet). You can specify what kind of ads you want to display by specifying keywords, so Chitika would randomly serve ads based on your keywords.
The eMiniMalls.info Keywords Query Tool lets you specify your keywords and see what ads it would show. You can specify as many keywords as you see the ad pattern. Try it below.
What to know who is clogging your inbox with Viagra and mortgage spams? Alan M. Ralsky (pictured here) is one of them.
Now here is the good news for the rest of us. FBI agents seized computers, laptops, financial records and disks from the 8,000-square-foot home of this unapologetic king of bulk e-mail in September, leaving him with nothing to spam.
“We’re out of business at this point in time,” Ralsky said last week. “They didn’t shut us down. They took all our equipment, which had the effect of shutting us down.”

OK, this is not something new, but it sure is helpful to some people.
Ever since Microsoft release Windows XP Service Pack 2, the company keeps emphasizing the fact that you should enable Automatic Updates on your computer. Fair enough, but the problem is, it tries to outsmart you by restarting your PC automatically if you are not logged on to the computer, or you do not respond to the confirmation dialog within 5 minutes. Say good bye to your unsaved works, unfinished downloads, incompleted defragmentation. This is just more than annoying.
How to disable it:
1. In the Start Menu go to Run type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
2. Navigate to: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Template -> Windows Components -> Windows Update
3. Double click on No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations
4. In the settings window Choose Enabled and click OK
5. Close Group Policy Editor
The reason why I put this up: one of my PCs got restarted yesterday. All works were gone.
