Proton Edar recently unveiled the new Proton Waja that is fitted with a 1.6-litre CAMPRO engine, the first automotive engine ever built by Proton (the name Campro is short for Cam Profile).
Available in Burgundy and Quick Silver, the new Waja CAMPRO comes with minor interior cosmetic changes, including front and rear leather seats, improved circular shaped air-conditioning vents, new meter cluster and a 2DIN CD player that plays MP3 discs.

I do not quite understand this, but a “modern luxurious” car that looks like a Waja and sells at RM130,000 (~US$35,000)? Not to mention it doesn’t even come with airbags? I really doubt how likely we’ll be able to spot a Proton Chancellor on the road.

Proton is supposed to launch two new models this year. Dubbed Proton Savvy, the TRM (Tiara Replacement Model) was launched few months back. The launch of another model, the SRM (Satria Replacement Model) has however been delayed due to various reasons.
So, expect to see the new SRM next year. For the curious, here is the compilation of leaked spyshots of it found on the Internet.

First we have the car that parks itself, and now we are about to have a car that drive itself. Not yet, but General Motor has announced that they will produce cars that feature self-driving system known as the Traffic Assist, which uses lasers, video camera and a computer to recognize signs, detect obstacles, and of course, control the cars. The system is said to be able to maneuver the car at up to 60 mph even in heavy traffic.

The MDI Air Car is a car that runs on compressed air, capable of running up to 120km/h and has the driving range of 200-300km.
When you run out of, er, air, you need to recharge it from an, er, air station.

Ok, so you had a sneak peak into the new Proton Savvy here. Now, if you don’t have the time to the showroom, and you haven’t seen the real car, here are the photos of the real Proton Savvy.
By the way, Proton Savvy is way below my expectation. The interior is horribly ugly and the materials used are .. well, not of high standards, I must say. But I believe it will considerably affect the sales of Perodua Kelisa. Myvi? No way.
Enjoy the photo show. Excuse me for the quality of these photos, it was taken using my phone.
