The transparent VW Phaeton assembly plant


How is it like to work in a factory that is transparent? Someone has visited the Phaeton assembly plant in Dresden of Germany, and posted some photos of the inside and outside of the factory.

I have put together some photos, to provide a bit of a ‘tour’ for folks who have not yet been to Dresden. I hope you find them informative. If you would like to visit the factory, they are very much ‘visitor oriented’ - the factory is open about 10 to 12 hours a day for visitors.

Why SuperNova.org got shut down

A year ago, the popular torrent tracking site SuperNova.org was brought offline out of the blue.

And now, a year after it was shut down, the creator has finally decided to reveal what went wrong.

On November 2004, I received a call from my ISP saying that all of my servers had been raided by the police. I received nothing from the police before or after the raid, nobody told me what was going on.

Minolta.com.my - hacked!


The Malaysian web site of Minolta at minolta.com.my has apparently been taken over by the Turkish hackers group TÜRKİYE. The entire site has been defaced and the following message was left on the homepage:

Please kindly note that we have no allegation and no showing of any strength in these internet area.

Above all we do not have any advertisement.

Our team is always in ourselves right mind.

Our duties are to show our GLORIOUS TURKISH FLAG the sites which are wrong publication against

to Turkey and attacker, looking small, offending to assume and attitude to Turkish Web Pages,

We do not deal with hatred, conservatism and antagonism.

We are always with sites which is agreeable to right mission.But we know how we penalize

someone who is holder of a wrong!!!

No further information about the attack is available and it has not been recorded at zone-h.org.

Dell recalls laptop batteries


Following reports of overheating, Dell has recently announced the plan of voluntarily recalling and offering free replacements for certain notebook batteries that pose a risk of fire as a result of overheating. The affected batteries were sold with some models of Dell Latitude, Inspiron and Precision line of laptops, and were manufactured in China and Japan.

Two months ago, HP similarly has recalled 135,000 laptop batteries (info).

Yahoo Messenger 7.5


Yahoo has recently released Yahoo Messenger 7.5 Beta. This is the first version to incorporate the new inbound and outbound calling features. The outbound feature lets you call directly from the computer to any phone number in the world, while the Phone in feature enables callers to call a number and reach a Yahoo! Messenger user.
