Opera 9.0 Technology Preview 1

Opera Software, who recently made their Opera Browser free has announced the availability of Opera 9.0 Technology Preview 1.

The release log shows that it has undergone many changes. Some notable ones include a opera:config for managing preferences (just like Firefox’s about:config), and pressing CTRL+N now opens a new window instead of tab. To open a new tab? Press CTRL+T (which is er, just like Firefox).

OpenOffice 2.0 has arrived

After months of making OpenOffice 2.0 as a beta software, the Sun Microsystems funded OpenOffice.org has finally made it a final release.

If Microsoft Office costs you or your organization too much, I strongly recommend you to give OpenOffice.org a try if you haven’t done so. Not only it’s free, it’s also available in 36 languages and are truly a cross platform application that runs on Windows, GNU/Linux, Sun Solaris, Mac OSX and several other platforms.

Microsoft Phishing Filter now for IE6

Users of Internet Explorer now do not have to wait for IE7 to ship to get the phishing filter, which helps to alert users when they are tricked into visiting a known phishing scam site.

The feature is embedded into IE7, and is now available as an add-in for users of MSN Search Toolbar Beta.

Del.icio.us is currently the only tool it is supports. But soon it will be exteneded to other services (as seen by the Manage favorite service buttons, which are currently made disabled).

A son named Google

Walid Elias Kai, a Lebanese Ph.D. in search engine marketing and his Swedish wife Carol just had a newcomer into their family - her wife had just given birthday to their son on September 12. His name? Oliver Google Kai.

“When we first knew that my wife Carol is pregnant, I said, ‘we will name our child Google.’ Everyone laughed and did not take me seriously. My brother said, ‘Yeah, name the next one yahoo fuji nikon.”
